His story
Meet the man behind the message.
Follow Lamont's path from real estate to home care, publishing and public conversations about access. Each chapter informs what he brings to an audience.

01 / College and a first deal
He chose a different path in his senior year.
Lamont studied Accounting Information Systems at DeVry University. By his senior year, he knew the career he imagined in accounting did not fit the way he wanted to work.
He moved into real estate in 2004. In a later interview, Lamont recalled closing his first deal. He took the commission check to his parents in North Carolina, then told them he had left college. The decision started a career centered on people and their homes.

02 / 2010
A car accident changed daily life.
In 2010, Lamont sustained a spinal cord injury in a car accident. He was raising young children, with another child on the way. He has spoken openly about wondering what the injury would mean for his relationship with them and for his work.
He stepped away from real estate for a time. In a 2025 interview, he described initially avoiding some school events because he worried about how other people would see his wheelchair. A welcoming moment in his daughter's classroom helped him see that fear differently.
In 2014, Shepherd Center also profiled his participation in an exercise and lifestyle study after spinal cord injury.

03 / Returning to real estate
The work began again, one client at a time.
When Lamont returned to real estate, he worried that clients might judge his ability before seeing his work. For his first client back, he researched the home and their needs in depth before they met. They closed the deal.
That experience helped him move forward in the profession. It also sharpened a question that had become personal: what happens when the housing market offers people a house, but not one they can comfortably use?

04 / A broader housing conversation
A home should work for the person living in it.
Lamont speaks about accessible housing from two positions: as a real estate professional and as a power wheelchair user. He points to the small number of suitable homes and the added cost of changing a house after purchase.
On the Accessibility Is Home podcast, he argued for more homes planned with universal design from the start. His point is practical and personal. Access should be part of a home people feel proud to live in.

05 / Building new work
Care and writing became new ways to serve.
In 2020, Lamont founded Agape Family Healthcare Services. His company describes the work as shaped by personal experience and faith, with dignity, safety and independence at the center of care at home.
He also founded EverRise Press. His debut book, How To Have a Financial Heart Attack, looks at habits and choices that can keep people under financial stress. Both ventures focus on helping people have more control over daily life.

06 / People and community
The story also belongs in the room with others.
Lamont's work reaches beyond his businesses. Agape describes him as a mentor with Brothers Making Moves, which supports young men through education and skill development. His professional record also includes participation in the Johns Creek Chamber business community.
His public conversations bring these threads together. In a 2025 podcast interview, he spoke about the move from college to real estate, the years after his injury, his return to clients, and why accessible housing matters. He continues to bring that lived and professional experience to groups and panels.
